The Value of a Pregnancy Center and How to Become Involved

Starting a Pro-Life Group at your Church
Sabrina Burton Schultz, Director of Life Ministry, Diocese of St. Petersburg
Learn how your church can develop a comprehensive plan in support of life and involve more members of your congregation in life issues. This workshop will explain and offer practical examples of the four pillars of effective pro-life ministry: prayer, education, pastoral care, and advocacy.

Eugenics, Planned Parenthood and the Black Community
Minister Reggie Hobbs, Director, Celebration of Black Life Tampa Bay

This workshop will focus on abortion in the black community and the link to eugenics and Planned Parenthood. Attendees will view parts of the popular 2009 documentary, Maafa 21: Black Genocide in 21st Century. The film, which has been enthusiastically received by anti-abortion activists, argues that the modern-day prevalence of abortion among African Americans is rooted in an attempted genocide or maafa of black people.

Prayerful Presence at Abortion Facilities
Scott Mahurin and Chris Gladu, Sidewalk Counselors
You need not be a "counselor" to be the face of Christ in front of an abortion facility. This workshop is designed to help you reach out in love to the abortion-bound during their most vulnerable hour. Learn why sidewalk counseling is so important and gain some useful skills that you can immediately apply. Hear some stories of success (saved lives) and come away challenged and inspired.

Abortion Facts and Procedures
Barbara Cowne, RN; Nurse Medical Specialist, Catholic Charities, Diocese of St. Petersburg and Kathy DeSanto, RN, Life Impact Network, Perinatal Comfort Care

The session includes audiovisual and written materials, statistical information and research outcomes.
From the perspective of registered nurses with combined OB/Gyn, perinatal hospice care, post-abortive healing and pregnancy resource medical clinic experience.

Legislative Advocacy
Rachel Burgin, former State Representative
Being a faithful citizen means bringing our faith and values into the public square. We are called as Christians to help build a culture of life by working to change unjust laws and policies. This session will focus on practical strategies for engaging our elected leaders on a state and national level.

Adoption: A Loving Option
Woody, LCSW, Adoptions Coordinator, Catholic Charities, Diocese of St. Petersburg and Jennifer McKinney, Adoption Specialist, Florida Baptist Children’s Homes
Adoption is frequently misunderstood by today's culture and not given its
proper place of honor and importance. This session will focus on the
myths commonly believed and the contrasting truth. The session will also
provide tips for presenting adoption to women as a positive, viable option
for life.

Do you Know Someone Hurting After Abortion?
Suzanne Howard, National Trainer, Surrendering the Secret Post-abortion Workshop and Emma Boe, Project Rachel Director, Catholic Charities, Diocese of St. Petersburg
Have you or someone that you know experienced abortion? Don’t let the shame and guilt keep you away from God’s mercy and unconditional love. This workshop will explore post-abortion healing ministry with a focus on two different healing programs available in the Tampa Bay area. Project Rachel is a national program of healing from a past abortion provided through the Catholic Church. Surrendering the Secret is an eight week healing Bible study written by local author and speaker, Pat Layton and published by LifeWay.
